Programming

Programming is a vital component of a Goodnight Scholar’s development during their time in the program.

Programming Themes

The Goodnight Scholars Program offers relevant hands-on experiences that cultivate the skills and relationships necessary to achieve our program’s goals.

Professional Development

Programs that help scholars develop a stronger professional and academic identity and knowledge base. Topics consist of career development, academic success, and communication. Examples include Faculty Dinner Series, Resume Jam, and Scholar2Scholar.

Leadership Development

Programs that help scholars develop their leadership identity and style by exploring topics like emotional intelligence, decision making, or navigating difficult conversations. Examples include Adulting 101 or Real Leadership.

Personal Development

Programs that help scholars develop essential skills for personal well-being and civic engagement by exploring topics such as interpersonal communication, citizenship, and financial literacy. Examples include Adulting 101 and Community Conversations.

Mental Health and Wellness

Programs that help scholars learn more about their own mental health and wellness while understanding how to advocate for others. Participate in group conversations facilitated by the NC State Counseling Center or crafting programs to gain clarity, self-confidence, and resources to improve your mental health and wellness.

Socials

Programs that connect scholars with each other and introduce them to new activities and places in the Triangle. Socials can be community-wide, cohort-specific, or within your major.

Service

Opportunities to serve the NC State or Triangle communities. Major service programs include LEGO Brick Build and Service Raleigh. Other examples of service programs include Habitat for Humanity Build Days, volunteering at the Duke Lemur Center, and STEM Nights at local elementary schools.

Cultural Enrichment

North Carolina is rich in culture and artistic expression. Cultural enrichment programming gives scholars an opportunity to attend local theater productions, musical performances, and museums for free.
