Additional funding is available to Goodnight Scholars who are pursuing educational and developmental opportunities outside of their traditional coursework.

Alternative Service Break Reflection Panama WASH Program – Global Health Brigades

Mercedes Morales Card had the opportunity to travel to Panama with a group of twenty students and faculty, including Dr. Sullivan, to participate in a Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program in partnership with Global Health Brigades. Their objective was to build the foundational structure for bathrooms in a rural Panamanian community!

Independent research in Microbial Pathogenesis

During the 2025-2026 school year, Sarah Harvey (’28) engaged in independent research in microbial pathogenesis under the mentorship of Dr. Michaela Gazdik Stofer (Dr. G). Her project focused on investigating cyclic AMP (cAMP) secretion in Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb), using its non-pathogenic relative, Mycobacterium smegmatis (M. smeg), as a model organism.
