Goodnight Scholars Program Selects Finalists for Class of 2025

The Goodnight Scholars Program at NC State University revealed 100 finalists who will participate in the Program’s 7th annual Finalist Interview weekend. This year, due to the ongoing pandemic, the event will be held virtually on February 26th and 27th, 2021.

From the Finalist Interview, 50 students will be invited to join the Goodnight Scholars Program’s Class of 2025.

“While we wish we could welcome these finalists to campus in-person, we’re excited to meet them virtually during this two-day event,” said Allison Medlin, director of the Goodnight Scholars Program. “It is remarkable how much these outstanding finalists have accomplished, particularly in light of the ongoing pandemic and its far-reaching impact in their lives. It is a privilege to welcome them to our community, and to highlight what makes NC State, and the Goodnight Scholars Program, such a special place for future engineers, scientists, and educators.”

The 100 finalists were selected from a pool of candidates from across North Carolina and represent 83 high schools, 52 counties, and six NC State academic colleges. Finalist applications were reviewed by a volunteer committee consisting of current and former NC State faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as industry representatives from SAS Institute and the Kenan Fellows Program. Each finalist demonstrated exceptional high school accomplishments including outstanding academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, community engagement, and an affinity for STEM and education.
