The enriching educational opportunities we provide to our scholars are not possible without the participation of our alumni and community partners.

Serve as a Professional Mentor through the Goodnight Fellows Program
Our Goodnight Fellows program connects second- and third-year scholars with industry professionals in the Triangle for invaluable mentorship and career development. Goodnight Fellows are matched with eager scholars who aspire to make an impact in STEM and education. Previous mentorship experience is not required and training materials will be provided.
Participate in a Goodnight Scholars Event as a Guest Speaker or Panelist
Goodnight Scholars have access to weekly in-person and virtual events that help them develop as future professionals and leaders in their fields. These events include dinners, workshops, panel discussions, and site visits with industry professionals and employers. Our professional staff is happy to brainstorm ideas with you before committing to an activity.
Volunteer in our Selection Process
Our alumni and community partners often find themselves inspired after reviewing the applications of prospective candidates for the Goodnight Scholars Program. Reading about the hopes, dreams, and achievements of these young minds elicits an abundance of optimism for the future of our world. Alumni and community partners also have the opportunity to interview candidates chosen as finalists for the high school or transfer selection process during the Finalist Interview Day at the Jame B. Hunt Jr. Library on Centennial Campus. Training materials are provided.

Goodnight Alumni Network
Extending the Goodnight Scholars community beyond graduation, the Goodnight Alumni Network offers seasonal networking and social events for all alumni of the Goodnight Scholars Program.

Interested in supporting need-based scholarships like the Goodnight Scholars Program? Consider supporting NC State’s Extraordinary Opportunity Scholarship Initiative. More than 70% of NC State’s undergraduates apply for financial aid, and roughly half qualify for some kind of need-based aid, under federal guidelines. Launched in 2020, the Extraordinary Opportunity Scholarship Initiative will expand educational access to NC State and help close these gaps.
