Days spent volunteering with the Duke Lemur Center and Habitat for Humanity are the best days.
Good weather, hardworking attitudes, and lemurs made for two quality volunteering experiences around the Triangle.
Our annual volunteer day at The Duke Lemur Center, an 85-acre sanctuary for strepsirrhine primates in Durham, meant up-close encounters with mischievous (and highly entertaining) lemurs in between enclosure repairs.
Over at Augusta Landings in Raleigh, a team of Goodnight Scholars put on their hard hats and work gloves for some construction for a cause. As part of the Habitat for Humanity Build Day, Goodnight Scholars installed vinyl siding and painted walls for a brand new Habitat home in Wake County that will be presented to a family in need of affordable housing.
