100 finalists representing 45 North Carolina counties will interview on March 2nd for 50 spots in the Goodnight Scholars Class of 2023 cohort.

The Goodnight Scholars Program at NC State University revealed 100 finalists who will participate in the Program’s 5th annual Finalist Interview Day, scheduled for March 2nd, 2019 at the James B. Hunt Jr. Library on Centennial Campus.

From the Finalist Interview Day, 50 students will be invited to be a part of the Goodnight Scholars Program’s Class of 2023 for the start of the 2019-2020 academic year.

“Our entire community looks forward to Finalist Interview Day each year,” said Allison Medlin, director of the Goodnight Scholars Program. “It is a privilege to welcome these outstanding finalists and their guests to campus, and a wonderful opportunity to share what makes this Program and University so special. Our primary goal is that each finalist will leave the interview day with an appreciation for why NC State is THE place to be for future leaders in STEM and education.”

The 100 finalists were selected from a pool of nearly 821 candidates from across North Carolina, representing six NC State academic colleges and 45 North Carolina counties. Finalists were scored by an application review committee consisting of 149 current and former NC State faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as industry representatives from SAS Institute and the Kenan Fellows Program. Each finalist demonstrated exceptional accomplishments in their respective high school careers including stellar academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, community engagement, and inspiring goals for success in the STEM or STEM education fields.
